Frequently asked questions

What file types are accepted?

PDF only. Maximum file size is 10MB.

Is my document stored?

No. Your PDF is processed in server memory and deleted immediately after verification. It is never written to disk.

What do the verification results mean?

ACTIVE — the credential is valid and current. REVOKED — the issuing institution has revoked the credential. SUPERSEDED — a newer version of the credential exists. NOT FOUND — the document was not found in the AcadCert registry. DELETED — the credential record has been removed.

What if verification fails?

Make sure the PDF is the original, unmodified file issued through AcadCert. Editing, re-saving, or printing to PDF will break the cryptographic signature.

How fast is verification?

Typically under two seconds.

Who issued my credential?

AcadCert works with institutions to issue credentials. For questions about issuance, contact the institution directly.

Verification issues

If you believe a verification result is incorrect, contact the issuing institution directly. VeriCert displays results from AcadCert's registry — it does not make verification decisions itself.
